Quick answer

Do HVAC UV lights work and what do they cost?

A UV-C lamp mounted to shine on the evaporator coil and drain pan helps keep those constantly wet surfaces free of mold and biofilm, which supports airflow and reduces musty odors. Installation typically costs $299–$449, and lamps should be replaced about once a year (roughly 9,000 hours) for $79–$99.

Overview

What is UV light installation?

The coil is wet whenever the AC runs, which is most of the year in Texas. UV-C light at 254 nm damages the DNA of microorganisms on surfaces it shines on continuously.

We choose a lamp sized to your coil, mount it where it covers the coil face and pan, wire it safely to the air handler, and add a viewing port so you can confirm it is working. UV works best on a clean coil, so we often install it after a coil cleaning.

UV Light Installation is part of our indoor air quality services. Many customers book it together with ac coil cleaning.
